I really need some advice on how to deal with my pushy stepfather (SF). It’s an issue that’s really hurt my heart for awhile and is becoming a major PITA. Here’s some background for you to help understand the absolute stress and difficulty it’s putting me under:
My Biological Father passed away when I was 2 in a workplace accident. My Mother, being really young and not sure how to deal with the grief and how to raise a child by herself abandoned me. Luckily my Biological Father’s Brother adopted me and has raised me. To me, He’s my real father because he’s the only father I’ve ever known and has loved me as his own. Years later (I was 10) My mother comes back in my life newly married with another child. She and my Dad fought a custody battle and it was finally agreed I would spilt time between them. So flash forward into adulthood.
My mother and I have mended our relationship through years of therapy although we aren't super close. Stepfather has always treated me as lesser then his real daughter. He was never physically abusive but he’s always been verbally abusive toward me. Nothing I ever did was good enough. He made my teenage years hell. For a long time I held resentment towards my younger half sister because of his treatment. I have since made peace with her because it wasn’t her fault. My issue is I now have a son. My stepfather is suddenly super nice and interested in me now because of him. Always wants to see him, tries to be GOTY and such. He even went as far to get a “PawPaw” (Wtf? ) Tattoo… before he even meet my son. But he still basically acts like I don't exist..
I just don’t know how to handle this. I want to have a relationship with my mom and half sister but he makes it so hard..
ETA: Mother has Schizophrenia. SF is gatekeeper to all acess to mother I still want a relationship with.
