Am I a brat?

Am I a brat for feeling hurt/angry that my parents are spending crazy money on themselves and won't help us while my family is extremely struggling financially?

Little background: My parents put me through undergrad college- I only worked part time for spending money. They also recently gave us $8k for our wedding and home purchase. My mom said she would retire when LO was born last June to help with childcare when I went back to work. She changed her mind and didn't retire. MIL can't help either because she died a few weeks ago and DHs family is drowning in medical debt.

After childcare costs, my salary didn't yield enough surplus to justify going back to work. So I resigned. I was counting on a part time job in the evenings that fell through. I'm still applying for jobs.

In the meantime, my parents bought a huge second home to have a place closer to us. They got brand new furniture and put in a pool. They only stay there every other weekend.

Meanwhile my family had to get on MediCal, apply for food stamps, use all our savings on unexpected costs (our car was stolen, funeral expenses, medical stuff).

I was hoping for some Christmas money, but nothing. I got a few shirts. LO got a bunch of stuff she didn't need.

We are thinking of renting out our home and moving into theirs (They said ok when I asked), but my mom won't let us bring our cats who are my precious, dear family members. Maybe I should just get rid of the cats but it breaks my heart, I've had them for 7 years and they've been with me through the most difficult time of my life.

Anyway, am I being a brat? Should I get rid of the cats? Thanks so much in advance!
