FOO too harsh with my kids? Long Update pg.9

I have 2 boys ages 9 and 6 and an older DD. My parents volunteered to watch them while DH and I went to an event of DD. We originally planned to take DSs with us but ODS came home from school with strep and YDS has had an asthmatic cough for a week. He was treated with oral steroids and was on his last day of those. He's been treated with them before and always has behavioral side effects. He is more aggressive and defiant then normal. It is a common side effect. I hate to put him on them but I'd rather deal with naughty behavior and allow him to breathe. My parents are aware of the side effects and knew he was on the medication and like I said, they volunteered to watch them.

Anyway, when I got home YDS was in tears and said he wanted the grandparents to hurry and leave. He said my dad threw the PS4 remote at the fire place and almost broke it. My dads response was that he didn't throw it he smacked it out of his hand. I didn't get an reason why. My dad said my DS pushed him to his limit but again didn't give any examples or reasons. It was confusing and loud and a mess so I apologized for my sons behavior and thanked them for watching the boys and they left.

I talked with DS alone and tried to figure out what went on. He just kept sobbing and saying that Gpa yelled at him and was mean to him. Later I asked ODS what really happened and he said Gpa was being mean and overreacted...

I guess my question is, what do I do next? I plan on getting my parents side tomorrow but for my son to be sobbing like he was it really affected him. Should I make DS apologize for his behavior? Should my dad apologize for apparently over reacting? Should I confront him about yelling at DS and the smacking of the controller from his hand?
