I have to say that I'm not a regular on BBC (my husband and I don't have kids), I have just been addicted to inlaw boards since I got married 5 years ago. My in laws are/were the standard enmeshed/ infantilizing type. I am a loner and introvert and the inlaws got pissy and upset when I didn't want them crawling up my ass all the time. I CO for a few years, then began with low contact when dh's father was in the hospital and died last summer (I wanted to be there to support my DH).
My MIL is probably my BEC right now. We had a good, respectful Christmas together at SIL's house, though. I didn't attend the Easter shindig (I'm big on avoiding family get togethers. For some reason I just hate them. I keep up with my family through email and debil, etc. I have just always hated the big, chaotic mass). MIL lives 3 hours away, so DH went Sat and spent the night, coming home after dinner Sunday night.
Of course, he had a bunch of leftovers from Easter dinner - most notably a big, greasy zip lock bag of ham that is now squatting sinisterly in my fridge. I don't even want to touch the thing. MIL is not big on keeping her house/kitchen spice and span, and after it was marinating in my husband's car for 3 hours on the drive home, I can only imagine what it's crawling with. My dh wants to keep it for "ham salad" ( for DH, that me and 1/2 cup of mayo mixed in with a teaspoon of ham).
And of COURSE MIL sent home dh's favorite bread. Its some damn prepackaged white bread that you can only get in MIL's town. 😕 So that is taking up precious freezer space too.
I'm sick of being repulsed by the "food" DH sticks in the fridge after he visits mommy. If I stick some leftovers in the fridge it will sit there until it grows legs and walks off on his own. If mommy sends leftovers from her germy kitchen on a three hour unrefrigerated journey to my clean and lemon-amonia'ed fridge, DH reveres it like it is the damn flesh of Christ. 😣
