My cousins wedding is Sunday. I'm the MoH, my son and daughter are also in the wedding. Much to my great horror, we contracted a terrible stomach bug this week. My son was sick 5 days, and my daughter is a type 1 diabetic. Both the kids were hospitalized. Tonight before we were leaving for the rehersal, my DD was sick again. It's been rough- she faces another hospitalization this weekend and I'm doing my best with home care before our appointment in the morning.
I called my cousin immediately after we got DD cleaned up, to tell her we weren't coming to the rehersal. Icy cold she only wanted to know if we would be coming on Sunday. I was in tears, I told her I wasn't sure. She didn't even ask how my daughter was doing.
How do I handle this? We've never had an illness be this brutal on DD. I've been honest with her that we may not make it, should I just bow out now? It makes me feel terribly guilty (and sick to my stomach at the expenses for the wedding we've paid), but I feel I need to be there for my ill child more.
