Okay. Where to start. I have a 3 month old son. My husband and I take biweekly trips. We are gone for about 10-12 hours. My mom watches lo while we are gone. It easy that was because we live with her. My mother in law does not live far only about 5 mins.
We are taking a trip tomorrow, and somehow it was brought up that my mil should watch him by my sil.
I kinda have a minor problem with that.
My mil has severe ptsd about driving. She was in a few minor car accidents, nothing that caused harm to her or anyone else. She doesn't leave the house much but to get groceries and go to bible study. She was visiting us everyday. Then it moved to every two days. Now it's once or twice a week. She has seemed depressed lately and has been staying home more.
She is on a lot of medications, some of them are scary. She is trying to get herself off, but that is making it worse. She sleeps a lot. For example, we went to he house for dinner at 5 in the afternoon and she was in bed.
She will no longer drive down the hill. We live I'm the high desert (ca). She barely made it to our wedding in 2011. She didnt go to the hospital when her husband had emergency surgery. And she was not there when my son was born. Our hospital is 'down the hill'.
I am afraid to leave lo with her. If there was an emergency, would she be able to get behind the wheel of a car and get him to his local doctor or the hoapital.
Am i being irrational?
