Background: I posted about a month ago about my MIL going MIA for a couple months when she felt DH sided with her husband in their divorce (for the record, he did side with his step-dad because she cheated on him...). Anyway, I took all of your advice to cut her off because she had clearly hurt DH and potentially my kids if they were old enough to understand what was going on.
Update: She shows up to our house unannounced on a night she knew DH was gone! I was playing outside with my boys and she gets out of her car and scoops my toddler up like nothing ever happened. I was furious but totally shocked and honestly didn't know what to do. I asked her what she was doing here and she said she wanted to talk. I told her that it would be up to DH and if he wanted to then we could talk some other time. She didn't say anything and just kept playing with my son! Luckily it was bed time so I had an easy out and took the boys up to bed and said goodbye. I come down 45 minutes later and the woman is sitting on my front porch waiting for me! I walk out and tell her I'm locking up so she needs to go and she starts bawling telling me how she's sorry for everything, didn't mean to ignore us for a month, was just so hurt by us, loves my kids, and on and on and on. I repeated what I had said earlier about not talking without DH, closed my front door and left her there crying.
Her apology was crap and even if it wasn't, I don't care that she's sorry. She hurt DH and will more than likely hurt my kids some day if I let her back in our lives. She always cries when she wants her way and it works every time but I am sick of it. Today I wake up to texts from DH's grandma and brother telling me how awful I treated her. Are they right? DH says I did the right thing so why do I feel like a heartless bitch?
