I apologize in advance for the very, very long delay in updates. I don't have a real excuse other than life has been crazy busy, and while DWIL has saved me in many, many ways, it's the first thing to be neglected. I suppose better DWIL than my daughter and hubs.

TLDR version of BG: super toxic family I thought was normal-ish, mom fucked my boyfriend when I was 16, insane addict brother who tried to give my infant DD $50k check taped to a Cookie Monster doll made of Real Muppet Fur in 2013, cut them all off, insanity ensues, toxic grandmother dies in 2015, mother tries to rope me back in by promises of withheld inheritance.
Ok, so on to the update. It's late as shit here and I'm tired after a 16-hour day at the office, so I'm just going to post the highlights, and will elaborate tomorrow in the comments.
My mother actually did end up giving me the inheritance my grandmother gave her control over. She thought that was a blank check to rugsweeping the entire shitshow of the last several years, which I shut down. Several epic tantrums from her and my father over me refusing to unblock them / resume a relationship / allow them back into my life, and I put them back on ITO / CO.
Brother still crazy. Arrested for beating Girlfriend. Lots of drama but not sure extent. Not my circus or monkeys.
Aunt did end up challenging the will. Loooooong story, but it turned out that I was the beneficiary of the remainder interests of a trust naming both her and my mom as the primary beneficiaries. The headline is that if my parents and aunt / uncle all died tomorrow, I would inherit a lot of money. Aunt hates that her share would go to me, so challenges. Mom desperately needs money, so tries to negotiate a settlement whereby the entire trust would be broken (i.e. I get nothing if everyone dies and aunt can just leave it all to her kid), and asks for my consent. I point out that she's asking me to give up a big-ass inheritance for literally nothing. She freaks out. Dad freaks out because mom is freaking out. I stand firm, point out they are being assholes. She misrepresents the amount of money in the trust, so I make an artificially low offer of settlement which she and my aunt immediately accept.
DH and I get suspicious at why they would immediately accept what we thought was a reach, ask questions of the estate's attorney and find out mother lied about the amount in the trust. I refuse to sign the final documents to dissolve the trust and BH all bullshit from parents and the lawyers for the last several months (because I certainly don't need the money, and am perfectly happy letting those assholes rot / let the outside counsel burn through the money with their fees).
Got a letter from the estate's attorney last week basically begging me to make another offer so they can close the deal. I'm responding tomorrow.
Oh, and a few months ago I got a text from brother that my mother was DYING of kidney failure and he's the only match for a donor and has to give her a kidney and blah blah blah crazy crazy crazy. I make DH call my dad to see if she's dying and....she's got a kidney stone. She's fine. Going home the next day. Rats. We could only have been so lucky.
No legal advice please, I'm a lawyer and have my bases mostly covered. Just wanted to update you all and let you know that I'm okay. I'm here, on the right side of the grass, and doing my best to create a healthy loving environment for my own DD, who is AMAZING. She's a spitfire, about to turn 3 next month, and kicks so much ass. She has no idea who these assholes are or what a toxic family looks like. So I have done my job so far. Hope you all out in the DWIL ether are doing great! XO
