So I've been babysitting my nephew off and on for a little over a year now (he's almost 2). At first I was just doing SIL a favor and it wasn't a big deal because it was usually for only 2 hours a day. I didn't watch him much over the summer because her husband was out of work so he watched him up until a few weeks ago. 2 months ago when she asked me if I could watch him again now that BIL was going back to work I kinda sighed and said yes and thought "whatever, easy $50 a week"...Well it turns out that her work schedule has changed and I've been watching him 7 hours a day, still getting $50 a week and I get that "after she pays her bills". Is paying for childcare not a bill!?
Also, my son is in kindergarten and I drop him off at school and go directly to pick up my nephew, then right after I pick my son up from school I drop my nephew off with his grandma...so I'm babysitting away my "kids are at school free time", I'm a SAHM and my child has special needs so "free/alone" time is a rarity.
I don't want to put SIL in a bind but it's getting to the point where I'm just over it. She's not a bad person but I definitely feel taken advantage of. So my question is how do I ask for more money without sounding like a jerk ($1.42 an hour isn't worth all my free time)? Or should I just stop watching him (I'm leaning more towards this)?
