We visited with DH's grandparents today. They wanted to see our 2yo son, which is fine.
While talking, my husband's future deployment came up. He will be gone during the grandparents 60th anniversary (they are having a party). In the conversation they said that I WILL be at the party (no input from me).
And then they gave DH a hard time because he didn't call his grandfather before the grandfather was supposed to have surgery.
I did send them a postcard after the surgery and texted to see how they were doing with recovery.
Meanwhile, my grandmother had a surgery of her own a few weeks ago and no one is giving me crap for not having called her before surgery.
How do you deal with in laws (parents & grandparents) who expect everyone to be in everyone else's business and at every family event? I'm not good at coming up with responses on the spot.
