Long story short, we moved to the same town as the in-laws and they took over our lives. I started saying no and brains imploded. Things have been pretty good except for a flare up at Christmas.
The update:
It has been slow going but we got them down to ELC. I received some fb drunk messages and broke the BH to burn down the bridge, blocked MIL, and haven't seen them since January. I got a phone call while I had company in feb wherin I refused to allow the kids to leave our house at seven pm to go sleepover there with drunk ils, got accused of lying about having conpany, then I hung up on MIL and haven't talked to them since. They have seen the kids but only with DH and only twice while he was doing an activity. The result?
I'm such a bitch that they refused to come over to our house to see their daughter while she was here. We did several activities that she invited them to and they refused all as well and told her she would have to go to their house, without me. She refused. Girl has a spine of steel and is so sick of their shit (she has her own issues with them and was basically just invitig them so she could say she had.)
We got a phone message that said they had decided if we (sil, DH, me,) wanted them in our lives, we have to do what they want and that is all there is to it. They think they were great parents and don't know why they are being treated like this and they think we are horrible people, gasp, sob.
Eyes were rolled. SIL kicked DHs unicorn. She left this morning as planned and never saw them. We haven't seen them either. They CO'd us. Hoping it lasts forever but things are looking up! DH is down with moving when he finds a job.
