There has been a lot medically going on with my kids. One day 2 years ago I brought Odd to the dr for a migraine and we discovered she has type 1 diabetes celiac, a bunch of food allergies and another autoimmune disease. About a year ago, my now 7 year old started the same way, classic celiac symptoms. Friday we brought her for a genetic blood test that will show if she even can have it before we scope her (celiac blood panels are infamous for false results). Mil wasn't happy we "made dd go through that while her arm was broken, we could have done more damage since she fought so hard". I basically told her she had raised her babies so back off. Regardless of whether dd has celiacs or not, the blood test and symptoms are showing something GI is going on, so it's not as if they found nothing or dd was faking.
Once upon a time our house (that we ourselves own) was dh grandpas and we rented this house until we could buy it from GFIL. When MIL moved from next door she asked me to look after the little grey cat (Mona) since she was an ear tipped cat (outside cat) & too old to relocate. I told her sure, and the cat quickly bonded to me. Mil pays for the cats shots & medical bills though. The cat was sick today, really sick. She was panting like a dog and then it would stop. I brought her to MIL to ask if she wanted her to go to the vet and she said "she's FINE. Are you sure you don't have munchausen. For the cats and your kids". (Ftr an afternoon vet visit showed the cats thyroid was toast and causing breathing issues).
The irony in this is mil always has an ailment that is never DX by a doctor but always bothering her so much. Last month it was angina (disproven by dr). Now it's an "ulcer".
Obviously boundaries need to be set. She found out about dd celiac testing by seeing a fb wall post, so I blocked her. Dh called her mad but she was able to convince him she was just joking 👿👿 The big issue is mil doesn't like to not be the center of the world. Wondering what boundaries you would set? Would you take the cat to the vet and just invoice MIL from now on?
