My first time posting on this board. I've been lurking for a while and read the sticky, but I'm still learning my way around the acronyms. So forgive me if I mess up.
So let's get into it. My FMIL wants my twins to call her mom mom as opposed to grandma because it makes her feel 'old'. And to call grandpa, pop pop. I asked my SO how he felt about it and he says that he grew up calling his grandma and grandpa that so it only makes sense if my twins call then that.
I'm fine with pop pop, mom mom is where I have my issue. I wasn't comfortable with it from the moment I heard it. I don't like it because it sounds too close to mom.
Do any of your kids call their grandma mom mom or is it just my FMIL? Have you ever been through this? Is it weird? And if it is how do I go about telling her that they should call her something else? I'm not sure how to bring it up. I'm not one to be confrontational unless I absolutely have to.
