So when DH and I got married in 2013 I got his birth certificate from MIL in order to apply for our marriage license. I never gave it back. I figured DH is an adult and should be able to hang on to his own identifying documents as I have my own.
I'm ordering birth day keepsakes for DH and LO. I have all of LO's details, obviously, but needed some info from MIL as it's not all on the birth certificate. MIL gave me the info but then said she'd like his birth certificate back.
I don't understand why. Wouldn't it be more necessary for DH to have his own birth certificate now that he has his own child? How would you suggest I handle the situation?
