BIL stole iPhone

Hi Ladies,

I'm back again with yet another story about my crazy family.

So, a few nights ago, I had my young BIL (15) babysit my kids (4 and 2) while DH and I went out. My oldest, 4yo DD, has one of my old phones to play with. It got left outside a few months ago and was rained on. Phone was dead, tried rice and there was no fixing that thing. DD loves to pretend to talk on the phone. She has been asking for my phone and DH's phone for a few days now and I asked her where her play phone was. She nonchalontly said "BIL took it" and continued to ask to play with my phone.

Called BIL an hour later to find out what DD was talking about and he says,

"Your phone was broken. I fixed it. You can have it back for $50. I'm resetting it in three days if you don't pay me."

So I gave him a profanity-laden piece of my mind. DH says we should let it go since I have a new phone now and we don't need it. However, I have some photos and videos of DD and DS (Including DS's first steps and first words) that I do NOT want to lose.

I checked baby monitors and saw that BIL did indeed fix the phone- got it to turn on and disabled it for a few hours trying to crack my password. (This was around 9 PM. DS was passed out on the living room floor and DD was in another room playing. BIL managed to move DS into crib and convince DD to go to bed before we got home)

DD has already asked for her phone twice now since she's woken up from her nap. We gave her another toy phone but she wants her "mommy phone".
