I just had a baby a week ago, and my MIL is coming to visit from out of state for the first time. I'm a FTM, so maybe I'm a little paranoid about things. MIL has to travel 3 hours on a plane to get here and since my little girl is only a week old and hasn't had any vaccines yet, I'm concerned about germs from the plane. I had my husband ask my MIL to bring an extra set of clothes to change into when she gets to our house before she holds the baby, and she started laughing hysterically followed by, "SERIOUSLY?" I figured she would understand our concern, I mean, our child is 8 days old. Not only that, but this is not her child, and she should be willing to do whatever we want. It's a privilege that we are offering to have her be a guest in our house, not a right. Thankfully, I put a 3 night time limit on the visit, so she's only here for a short period. I don't feel bad at all for feeling the desire to protect my child, but I'm concerned about how this visit is going to go.
Is this the beginning of 3 days of hell? What advice do you have for me? Further, do you think I'm being overly cautious?
