Did I Overreact?

My four 1/2 month old son and I were at a family reunion when my aunt (mom's sister) who I've always had a very good relationship with offered to hold him while my DH and I left the table we were all sitting at to go through the buffet line. My aunt knows he is exclusively breastfed. I started walking several feet toward the buffet line and I realized I forgot to leave a burp cloth so I turned back. Just in time to see my aunt stick her finger in a pat of butter and move it toward my son's mouth.

I seriously screamed out my aunt's name angrily and screamed DON'T!

Lots of heads whipped around. My aunt finally heard me and said oh don't? Like she didn't realize she shouldn't. I said he doesn't eat solids. He's breastfeeding only! She then says oh is butter really a solid?

I marched over and yanked him out of her arms. Then I said yes and walked away with him.

So I know she should've asked me before giving him anything, but was I a bit harsh in the moment? Yelling at her and yanking him away? She had her kids a long time ago and maybe she truly didn't think a taste of something was a big deal? My pediatrician did tell me people used to start feeding at 4 months, but new guidelines say 6. Maybe she made an honest mistake?

(Obviously, my DH and I want to be the ones to give our son his first taste. Not to mention that I limit dairy anyway because he gets painfully gassy so he shouldn't have butter.)
