I'm a recovering doormat with a DuH transitioning to a DH. MIL basic boundary stomps including showing up at my LOs birth although I respectfully asked everyone to give DH and I that time alone. Numerous PA comments when we didn't visit "enough", always said to ME and not DH so I felt she likely blamed me. You get the picture, just rude comments and behavior when I was genuinely doing my best. Not to mention potential alienation attempts by insuinating my DD didn't want to see me one evening when I went to pick her up from MILs. (Last time DD was ever alone with her.)
She has always texted me so much and ALWAYS ME-not DH so I finally asked her to simply text DH. She has never done this despite my asking her about three times now. She still texts me, but in a group message with DH. I BH everything and have for probably 2 months now and she continues to text me. DH always tells me to ignore too, bc he's seeing how pushy she is. DH doesn't really text her, maybe once in a blue moon because he's busy and we simply have our own lives. To me she does not respect me and my no whatsoever. We have two LOs and I assume bc of that she doesn't care. She tries to come over with "requesting to help me" constantly. I'm aware it's to see the kids. Mind you we see her every 2-3 weeks, so she isn't CO. BUT I have no desire to have a relationship anymore bc of her boundary stomps and total disrespect.
What are your thoughts on WHY she won't stop? I'm going to block her number but there's no doubt she'll continue to text and I just won't receive them. My concern is that it'll eventually explode because I am not willing to be under her thumb. I can imagine her making me out to be an awful DIL and showing how much she's texted me with no reply. Am I overthinking her motivations? Should I simply block her and ignore any future comments, should they happen?
