I always read these Christmas cancer stories with great fascination and never thought it would happen to me. Well, I was wrong.

2 weeks ago MIL had a "stroke" (aka a panic attack), and now we can't stop hearing about how life is short and faaaaamily. I think this came about because we've been discussing moving across the country. We agreed we wouldn't discuss with extended family until things were settled but in his last phone call with them (a few days before the stroke) they asked if we were moving (which means he probably mentioned the place a few too many times). He said it's not something we're thinking about or discussing but I think they know when he's dodging the truth. I think the "stroke" was to force him to stay close to her (we live a short drive away).

We have all of them on an ELC but the contact on her end has now ramped up. She now wants to see us more so she can "bond with the baby" (the reason she was on ELC to begin with- she kept trying to get me to leave my newborn with her to bond until I told her the only person lo needs to bond with is me- CBF) and keeps mentioning how important faaaamily is and how it's important we forget about the past since "life is so short". She started ramping with her texts, emails, and phone calls so DH shut it down.

She's now on a TO. The next time we see her will be to tell her we're moving across the country and the next time we see her after that will be a few years later.

Let's hear your Christmas cancer story!

If a thread like this already exists my apologies in advance.
