Anon lurker with family here.
My MIL watches our DD three days a week. She is a retired nurse. We used her to watch our DD, because our DD was preemie, and we felt comfortable with someone like my MIL to watch her, as she was certified and had experience to handle our DD in case anything happens. I work two days a week out of home, and on weekends, either Saturday or Sunday depending on schedule.
Our DD is 8 months now. My in laws have a pool, and it's guarded with a gate. If her grandkids are over, they use it, and us adults too. I've never let DD in the pool yet. DH and I were waiting to introduce her into the pool when we were ready. This week, I picked her up to find out from my FIL, that DD enjoyed the pool with her grandma. I was furious, I told him he had to be joking. He said no. I told my MIL she was out of line and should have asked. Sge took away an experience from us, and acted like she didn't. She bought floaties, and said DD enjoyed it, and she was cautious with the weather. She said I should have stopped being flustered and be happy, while reacting kind. She said I should be thankful as she's a nurse, a swimmer, and reliable. She said she'll never let her drown or do things to be free.
She invited us over to a swim so we can experience with DD. My DH said I'm overreacting as his parents were enjoying their time with DD, and not reckless.
Does he have a point?
