I'm grateful to have found these boards .. Boy they are on fire..
I couldn't even begin to tell you the mile high list of offenses from my MIL in one post (it would be 30 pages long) so I figured I'd break them down and post time to time..
After 8 years I've reached my boiling point with my MIL but things have tripled in intensity over the last three years since we got married, pregnant and started having babies.
Anyway, my baby calls my MIL mama and she laughs and encourages it.. And even repeats what he says..
My MIL has so few boundaries there's almost no part of our lives she doesn't infiltrate and I feel like I have to fight and protect everything I have ..
She is Hispanic and I'm always told this stuff is cultural .. That it's no big deal..
She doesn't like the name ABUELA because it's too old apparently ..and abuelita is a mouthful with a baby learning how speak
How would you addresss this? I'm normally not petty but I've hit my limits with her and boundaries and feel like it's a constant fight and struggle with her to stop invading my space and mind her place.
I think she's thrilled my son calls her this and possibly even that it bothers me.. I've had a hard time keeping my cool with all the stuff she does but I try because I refuse to look like the unreasonable one.
