Amongst ourselves, DH and I call it an indefinite time out, but in effect it is a CO from MIL. She's a terrible person, plays favorites, stomps boundaries like godzilla and king kong had a REALLY ugly love child. She deploys FMs like a seasoned wicked witch of the west, is a professor of PA, and would have us think she's stupid as fuck because "I didn't know" is her favorite phrase. If given the opportunity, she'd be the most overbearing person ever, and "i just want to heelllpppp" is her mantra. DH's therapists (old and new) both have said that whole they can't diagnose her by proxy, they are helping DH under their working assumption that she's BPD.
She's been in "ITO" since fall of 2013. DH has accepted maybe 5 phone calls from her. DH and I saw her at 2 wakes and funerals over the last year. The last phone call was on his birthday, she called from a strange number and said "happy birthday, when can I see the kids?"
Which brings us to now. I'm pregnant. What can I expect in terms of ramping up when they find out? Expecting that they won't find out is not realistic without drastic changes, and she's not worth making those changes.
