So, we just moved about 5 minutes away from my in-laws temporarily. We will be in town for the summer for two months. They met their first grandchild today (my son), and it was tough. FIL was great, but my MIL was a nightmare. He cried hysterically both times that she held him. At one point, I was holding him, and she was talking to him. He started crying hysterically again (he doesn't do this normally), and she snatched him from me saying, "oh, I will get him to calm down". He just got even more upset. I didn't want to be forceful by taking him back, and it was extremely hard to watch him scream while she held him. I did take him back from her, but it was hard to approach her without being forceful in front of my son since he was already upset. Any tips for how to get him back from her next time without a struggle? That was hard to handle since she was holding him.
She also said a lot of things about how he was going to stay with her. He is EBF, and I don't make enough milk to pump extra, unfortunately. She formula fed her babies, so I am afraid that she doesn't understand that my son just needs his mom at this age.
