This isn't a huge deal, but I'm turning to DWIL for some advice on how to handle this situation. My MIL had 4 children, all boys. I have a 4 week old little girl, her first grandchild. Understandably, my MIL is excited about buying little girl clothing. Most of what she gets is pretty cute, but some things are not what I would pick out for my daughter.
Now, my MIL has started buying holiday outfits, and she expects my daughter to be wearing them when we see my inlaws for the holidays. They are not cute outfits. They say things like "Baby's 1st Thanksgiving" and "Baby's 1st Christmas." In my opinion, they're really cheesy and I would rather have my daughter wear a cute dress for the holidays. Didn't it ever occur to her maybe I want to pick out outfits and dress my own baby, especially for special events? It's getting annoying, and I'd like to know how to handle this.
