We are supposed to be visiting my mom this weekend, and she just called to tell me my half brother (hboo) is there. Background: my hboo worked for this guy in high school, and then joined his house church. He went from being my brother, the slightly annoying jock, to a bible thumping, angry person I didn't know. I cut him off after a family Christmas descended into a screaming fight that our stepdad had to physically interpose himself between us to stop (hboo's dad is an narcissistic sociopath that our mom took five long years to get rid of, stepdad 1 was well liked by both hboo and me, though sadly not mom). Hboo yelled a lot about Satan, I yelled a lot about him being an asshole, everybody behaved poorly. I haven't talked to him since.
Cut to now: hboo apparently showed up with his wife (I knew he had gotten married to his boss' daughter because as far as I know that is the last time he talked to mom) and his six kids (who no one knew anything about) at mom's house yesterday. They brought everything they own and don't plan on going back (I guess hboo's fil owned the house?). So they are living in my mom's basement for the foreseeable future.
We are supposed to drive up tomorrow to see my mom and I can't decide if we should go. My mom asked me to still come, and that my brother seemed different and wasn't going to cause problems, but I don't know. Thoughts?
