Background: my SIL and I both had babies the same week, and so did HER SIL. SO 3 cousins were born in one week. 10/16 hers, 10/19 mine, and 10/21 her SIL.

We have never been close, but no big riffs. We used to live 4hrs apart, but 2 months ago my husband was transferred to Houston, and we live in the same city now. She's been no peach about getting the boys together, she has 2, we only have one child. He has no friends here yet. But I try and blame the pregnancy exhaustion and shake it off.

Fast forward to bday planning:

We are new to this city and in a tiny apartment and venue shopping has been tough. Budget, availability being the largest concerns. My pregnant SIL was the one making the biggest stink over this party. Her son was born the same week as mine so we always have to negotiate birthday weekends. We did that. I gave her first choice and she chose the 22nd, the date of an Air Show her boys would like. I chose the 15th, as my husband has very few weekends off.

She agreed.

I decided to do the park and the Zoo.

She was upset about our chosen venue and day. There's a Zoo Boo celebration and a bicycle race that morning and she decided parking would be a nightmare. She was unhappy with a park, being pregnant and uncomfortable. We changed the day, the time, and rented an enclosed space and I reached out to her each time first. (I know I shouldn't have been so accommodating. But I don't know anyone here and these are my son's cousins and only friends)

She said "don't worry we will be there!"

Then she said today that she "just realized" our party is on her son's ACTUAL birthday and they won't be able to attend. Her son's party is the 22nd.

(My son was born 10/19, hers 10/16, they both turn 3).

But because our child (her nephew!) is celebrating on her 3 yr olds ACTUAL birthday, she's not coming. What?!

Anyhow. I'm writing it off, ignoring her and going forward with our plans.

Just wanted to thank everyone for the advice and help!
