My husband and I both work full time and we were very uncomfortable at the thought of putting our 8 month old in childcare, so we pay my husband's cousin to come over to the house to watch our daughter. His cousin does not have a car, and even though my husband does not have to be at work until 8, he starts his day at 5:40 every morning to ensure he picks her up and get to work on time (she lives 15 mins away) she also has a 1 year old son whom she brings with her and we provide food/milk for them. Anyway, I was at work when I received a text from the sitter stating that I needed to call her. I called immediately and she proceeds to tell me that my daughter and her son were playing on a little train we have and they both fell and got hurt but her face was all red and she may have a black eye... I was upset but she made it seem minor, I didn't freak out as I would be home within the hour. I told her to get something cold from the freezer and place it on my daughter's face so the swelling will go down.... When I got home, my daughters face was WAY worse than I expected... Her WHOLE face was bruised up and swollen, yet there was absolutely nothing wrong with her son. She then changed her story and said that she was changing my daughter on our recliner, she left our baby on the recliner to go throw the diaper away and she fell and smacked her face on the toy train. Her injuries do not match up to her story and I don't understand why she would change her story once I got home. My husband was VERY upset to say the least and flipped out on her when he got home... To diffuse the situation I took her home and on the way home she starts to tell me that we better pay her for the days she has been watching our daughter and that she will never do us any favors, keep in mind I was very upset but didn't talk shit to her because I am 7 months pregnant and it would have lead to a fight so I decided to just let my husband handle it... I wanted to beat the shit out of her but I knew I had to keep my composure. However, as soon as she started running her mouth I just couldn't keep my mouth shut anymore. I told her that we pay her $140/week and do the best we can to make sure our daughter is safe and comfortable at home, she is our employee and not doing us any favors. Then she started cussing me out, telling me fuck all of us so I started cussing her out and told her she isn't even a qualified sitter to be getting paid the amount we pay her for her to be so careless with our child.... Now her mom is getting involved and talking shit to my husband. I am 7 months pregnant, work full time and we are in the process of moving... I am so stressed out about the whole situation and don't know what to do. I'd love opinions/advice on how I should proceed... Thank you in advance!
