My MIL lives in Europe and likes to stay with us in the US (nowhere else she can stay) for 12 weeks at a time to spend with my husband and my LO (and another one due Feb 2016). Problem is, she and I clash a LOT. She came the first time last year and kept doing things her way with my then 3mo son, calling me a bad mom, judging my parenting, and very opinionated. I was scarred emotionally. I still carry a grudge and that's on me to let that go. She's here a second time, and plans to come for 3 months, stay in Europe 6 months, and return for another 3 months! I'm a SAHM and her caregiving/discipline methods aren't aligned with ours, she gives opinions and insists on her way a lot, and it makes my days harder. It takes me away from bonding with my son because she keeps invading our time together. She doesn't have friends here, nor can she drive, so she's at our home all day, for 12 weeks. How can I tell my husband that I can't handle/want this? It's been 3 weeks and I'm counting the days until 9 more weeks pass. This time, she keeps most opinions to herself, but just the fact she's living in my home, and I have to plan food around her special diet, her asking me to buy things (special foods, clothes, sunglasses, exercise equipment for her to take back to Europe), and trying to "parent" my son is making me upset. frown emoticonAm I awful?
