Should I take my dog?

Hi ladies. I joined BBC 4 years ago! But lost my original login.

I moved in with my parents, DD and my dog when my SO and I split (almost 2 years ago). After very much work and therapy I am finally in a position to get back on my own two feet, and living with my parents has been stress-free (for the most part).

While living with them, my mum mostly took over caring for my dog along with her own dog. I've paid the one vet bill he's had, and she's been walking and feeding him along with her usual routine. I told my parents of my plans to move out, and my mum seems to think I'll be leaving my dog behind, as she wants to keep him. I hadn't really thought that he would be staying! And envisioned him and DD growing up together...

What should I do? I also found out that she has put her name with his registration behind my back. I feel selfish taking him, but I wish I had known that her help taking care of him meant that she felt she had ownership of him. DD will be heartbroken if we leave without him.

Thank you very much for any advice 🙏🏾
